The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it had transferred the amount of N3.51b to the treasury as part of its 2021 operating surplus.
A statement signed by the Director of the News Board, Dr. Benjamin Fabian, stated that the remittances in 2021 were the result of the adoption of international best practices, which resulted in cost-effective operational processes.
The statement said: “In the past six years, since they sent a large amount of N7b in 2016, and the same in the years that followed, transfers have been the rule rather than the exception.The reflected decrease is in the cost of application documents (UTME and DE) from N5000 to N3500.
He said that due to the sharp drop in the price of the UTME form, this single act ensures that more than N3b is transferred to the parents and guardians of the candidates every year.
Thestatement said: “The Board of Directors, led by Professor Ishaq Oloyede, will further reduce governance costs and free up resources for other countries who need them in priority areas.
