The University of Ibadan had forbids top graduates and their parents to attend graduation ceremonies on campus in person. That only First Class Graduates can attend the graduation ceremony in person. Instead, they were asked to attend the convening ceremony online.
According to a notice issued by the university stated that the meeting will be held from November 15th to 17th.
The University’s public relations officer Olatunji Oladejo said that the decision was made to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
A part of the circular reads:
“Attendance at the International Conference Centre is open to First Class Honours graduands and recipients of prizes and awards only. During this period, parents and visitors are not allowed to enter the campus, nor will there be any form of parties or social gatherings.
“All graduands are to comply with COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face masks, physical distancing and use of hand sanitiser.
“All graduands are to pay the levies as stipulated whether or not they attend the convocation ceremonies as these will be required at the point of collection of the certificate.”.
