by Rahmon

Students of AAUA are to pay 10000 each as opposed the earlier of a sum of #20000.

According to the Punch Newspapers, the management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) had closed the school in November as a result of violent protests by students.

After a meeting of Senate of the university last week, the management took a decision to reopen the school. However, students were required to pay a reparation fee of twenty thousand Naira (N20000) and swear an oath of good conduct before being allowed into the school.

Considering the financial implication, the Student Union Government of the school engaged the authorities of the school and convinced the management to reduce the amounts that students will pay.

According to a circular signed by the AAUA register, Mr Gbenga Arajulu on Tuesday, January 18, the reparation fee has been reduced to N10000. The circular reads in part,

“The university management received the requests of the Student Union Executives on issues relating to students. The requests were considered by and approved by the Management after due consultation with the Governing Council as follows:

  • The reduction of the reparation fee from twenty thousand Naira (N20000) to ten thousand Naira (N10000).
  • For those students who have paid twenty thousand Naira (N20000) earlier stated as reparation fee, the balance of the payment will be credited to their school fees account as part of their school fees.
  • 200 level to 500 level students should pay up their outstanding fee and register their courses up to the 2019/2020 academic session, while they are given till second semester 2020/2021 to pay for the current session

However, the dates earlier stated for the commencement of the first semester examinations have not changed
