Here is a breakdown of the Isa Agwai Mustapha Poly 2022 SUG Election Requirements and Guidelines
This is to inform you that the Students Union Government (SUG) election shall be conducted on Wednesday, 26 January, 2022.
The positions for which the elections shall be conducted are as follows:
Executive
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary-General
- Assistant Secretary-General
- Public Relations Officer
- Welfare Secretary
- Financial Secretary
- Treasurer
- Social Secretary
- Sport Secretary
- Internal Auditor
- Sales Clerk
B. Legislature
One legislature to represent each department
3. The election shall be conducted through the use of delegates. Each class shall elect five (5) representatives to vote on their behalf.
4. Any student that fails to pay his/her school fees and SUG dues shall not participate in the selection of their class delegates Also, only students that paid their school fees and SUG dues shall be eligible for selection as class delegates.
5. For a student to contest for position in either the Executive or Legislature, he or she must:
i. Get a referee letter from his/her Head of Department
ii. Obtain a clearance letter from the Security Unit
iii. Pay all his/her school fees, SUG dues as well as complete all registration processes.
iv. Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.0 of the preceding semester with no carry over for the positions of President, Vice President and Secretary General and 2.50 of the preceding semester with no carryover for all other positions
v. Sign an undertaking form to be of good conduct before, during and after the election as well as to abide by all electoral guidelines.
6. In addition to item 5 above, all aspirants shall obtain, complete and submit nomination form at the office of the Dean, Students Affairs after the payment of the following non-refundable prescribed fee.
a. Executive
- President – #3,500.00
- Vice President and Secretary General – #3,000
- Others – N2,500.00
b. Legislative position – N2,000.00
7. All Aspirants contesting for position in both the Executive and Legislature are NOT allowed to organize any form of rally either outside or inside the school premises. Any aspirant that violates this condition shall be disqualified from contesting the election.
8. All completed nomination forms should be submitted on or before Monday 24 January, 2022 by 4:00pm at the Office of Dean, Students Affairs.
i. Election of Class Delegates
Wednesday 26 January, 2022 by 9:00am at the respective classes.
ii. Election of Departmental Representatives (Legislature) Wednesday 26 January 2022 by 10:00am at the respective departments
iii. Election of SUG Executives
Wednesday 26 January, 2022 by 1:00pm at Hall 1.
10. All delegates are expected to come along with the evidence of payment of school fees and SUG dues for the election.
11. Only Indigenes of Nasarawa State shall contest for the position of President, Vice President and Secretary-General
12. It is therefore expected that all students shall reciprocate this laudable effort of the School Management to allow them to participate in electing their representatives by exhibiting high level of orderliness as well as than any sets) that will jeopardize this process as well as truncate peace on campus
