Rhema Joseph Ahonsi of the Department of Creative Arts, Faculty of Art, University of Lagos and Akwuobi Genevieve Chinaecherem of the Science and Technology Department, Faculty of Education has won the Mr and Mrs Jambite for 2021/2022 in Unilag.
The contest which took place on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi main auditorium of the university, according to the organiser and Acting Manager, UNILAG Radio; Mr. Michael Oladimeji-Lamu, was part of activities lined up to acclimatise as well as promote social interaction among the newly admitted students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
The MR. & MRS. JAMBITE contest held under the auspices of the Students’ Affairs division, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos with a view to also engendering a healthy competitive spirit among the entire students’ population.
The J.F. Ade-Ajayi main auditorium, being the venue of the event, was filled to capacity while the atmosphere was frenzy as each of the contestants in both the male and female categories took their turns on the walkway to showcase their prowess in fashion and pageantry.
In her remarks, a friend of the University and Philanthropist, Engr. Dr Funmi Ayinke, charged the students to see their admission into the University of Lagos as a call beyond their academics.
While buttressing the need to meet the expectation of their parents, family members, sponsors and well-wishers in their academic pursuits, the Music Record Label owner who was also the Guest music artist at the well-attended event, implored the students to reach deep, uncover, nurture and explore their innate abilities as they pursue their academics.
